Final Hours!
over 4 years ago – Mon, Oct 14, 2019 at 10:21:16 PM

We're in the final hours of the campaign, thank you so much for joining the Green Glyphs journey. Now is a crucial time to share with those around you, we're nearing our next stretch goal for a free 4x6 sticker sheet and still have one more goal to reach for the Red Mountain foil card!

Some recent updates on the project:

The Green Glyphs Decks are on the way to the studio!!! This is a first for me, I submitted the files very early because I am well aware of the delays that can happen in the production process. Especially after how long Open Portals took to print last year I wanted to make sure I was well ahead of schedule.

The foil cards and extra Person II card are being printed now. The downside here is that these additions were too late to be included in the box so they will be shipped in protective sleeves with the deck.

The Houses of Lenormand Cloths are in production in the studio. We've finished about half and should be wrapping them up by the end of the month. These take so long to make so we won't be making more after the kickstarter. A mass produced version may be available in the future.

The Bingo Cards, Correspondence Cards and Gilded Lily Pins are all complete.

The House Keychain is also wrapping up production and the shipment will be in the studio in a few weeks as well.

The Satchel is where the delays are going to come in. I'm still (for some reason) waiting on the final sample before I can approve the mass production. Once it comes in I will share images of the actual satchel. If you are unsure about the Satchel you will be able to add it on to your pledge post campaign. I will be using Backerkit for fulfillment so you will be able to add a few things on even after the campaign ends. I'll post another update after the campaign ends on what Backerkit is and how this all works.

If you are new to kickstarter, once the campaign ends kickstarter will then begin to process your cards. This can sometimes take up to two weeks, so I will likely send out the surveys after the payments have been processed at the end of the month.

The surveys are where you will fill out your shipping information (VERY IMPORTANT) as well as choosing your add-ons if you added onto your pledge. The surveys must be filled out otherwise we won't be able to get you your rewards.

That's all for now, thank you again. I'm going to be revealing a sneak peek in the next update of something I just started working on that I think all of you will be very excited about. This will be a backer exclusive update. :)

Help Choose the Sticker Sheet!
over 4 years ago – Thu, Oct 10, 2019 at 10:56:18 PM

I need your help with the next Stretch Goal!

There are so many cards to choose from.. which ones should make it onto the Sticker Sheet? The sheet will be 4x6 (to fit in the shipping boxes) and will have as many die-cut peel away stickers on it that I can fit. This will come free with all pledges once we hit $50,000!

Please choose your favorite three stickers here from the options above. Want to see something that isn't here? Comment below!

Thank you again for everything, this project is getting very exciting.

Running Low on the Houses of Lenormand Cloths!
over 4 years ago – Wed, Oct 09, 2019 at 07:03:43 PM

This is just an update on the Houses of Lenormand cloths as we are currently producing the second batch in the studio. I've been posting some process stories on the Green Glyphs Instagram

There are only 23 cloths left at the tier two level, there will not be a third tier. Cloths will be available as an add-on until the campaign ends (since I can't control this) but to make sure we have enough for fulfillment I won't be adding a third tier for a cloth. So if you want a cloth make sure you manage your pledge +$25 now before the end of the campaign.

What does this mean?

I've been getting a lot of questions about add-ons and how they work - since you aren't seeing a difference in items on your end it may look like nothing has happened and you haven't reserved a cloth.

Once the surveys are sent out you will be taken to what is like a post-campaign shop. Let's say you pledged for the GREEN GLYPHS deck tier ($25) but have added on $25 for a cloth and $15 for a satchel. Your total amount will be $65 (+shipping). As you are filling out the survey (which is where I get your shipping information, so this is super important) you will be also selecting the items for your reward package. It will automatically include the items in the tier you pledged for, but it won't know what other items you have added on. This is where you will select the actual item, so you will see add-ons here like the cloth and the satchel. Your remaining $40 in credit is used here to select the satchel and the cloth and you will check out with a $0 balance, and you'll be all set! If you accidentally added too much or not enough it will adjust and let you know your remaining balance.

After the campaign ends I will post a more in-depth breakdown of how this all works.

We're creeping up on our next stretch goal, keep sharing the project so we can also get to the Red Mountain!

Stretch Goal Reached: The Rainbow Sun
over 4 years ago – Tue, Oct 08, 2019 at 10:46:30 PM

We just reached our fifth stretch goal and have now unlocked the Rainbow Foil Sun Card! This will come with all pledges for a deck (one/deck, so if you order 2 decks you will be getting 2 cards). This is a freebie and nothing needs to be added on to your pledges, it's already included :) So you are now getting in addition to the deck: A Gold Dog card, A Person II card, Seeing Stars Foil Card and the Rainbow Sun card.

Our next stretch goal is for the sticker sheet, which will also be a freebie. But I need your help picking what cards should be on the sheet! I will send out an update on that in the next few days.

Thank you all for sharing the project and becoming a part of Green Glyphs. There are only around 30 Houses of Lenormand Cloths left, we won't be doing a third batch - this version of the cloth won't be available post campaign. If you have added it on to your pledge you're all good - you will still be able to select a cloth during the survey fulfillment. We've been working on the second batch of cloths today. Check out the Green Glyphs Instagram story for some more behind the scenes process!

Thank you again, we're about to head into our final week of the campaign, it's gone by so quickly!

Also, I'm giving away a set of pins and correspondence cards on Instagram, all you have to do to enter is tag a friend and post your favorite saying. :)

A Look at the Development of Green Glyphs
over 4 years ago – Thu, Oct 03, 2019 at 10:39:52 PM

There's a lot that goes into the development of a deck that can't be seen on the surface. Above is an animation of a few of the more crucial phases that Green Glyphs went through. There are a total of twelve drafts. The trick was finding a balance with all the cards together, at first some cards screamed and others fell back into a whisper. While there are some cards in Lenormand that have more of a presence, the art of it is largely about how cards play with one another in the bigger picture. So letting them each have a voice was an important first aspect of the deck.

Luckily I have a great team here in the studio to bounce ideas off of. Sometimes when you get too close to something it can be hard to see outside of it. Each draft went through a critique, some of these lasted over an hour, they can get quite in depth when talking about 40 cards and how they all work with one another.

When developing a card deck I almost always work digitally, even from the initial draft. This lets me play with color and composition easily and make drastic changes and save new drafts without the panic of loosing what was maybe once better. A lot of the time you need to work something out fully, even if it goes in the wrong direction, just to get it back to where it began.

As you can see above, TREE was a much different card than it ended up becoming. In this previous version the tree felt more like a token or object rather than a feeling, I wanted it to envelope the card more, allowing it to speak towards ideas of growth, health and spirituality.

The Key was another card that went through a few rounds of changes. At first it had a design reminiscent of the Open Portals box and the key was falling towards the floor. But after a few edits I was able to rework the key to convey more of a feeling of unlocking or finding a solution. These are things that can be addressed subtly through use of the environment around the object.

While the deck upon first glance may come across as simple there is so much that goes into a deck from the initial brainstorming phases to reworks and edits that never see the light of day. I try to share this process when I can, but sometimes I get so wrapped up in the art I forget to document it.

I hope this short dive into the development of the deck has given you a fuller perspective of Green Glyphs. Is there anything I didn't go over that you'd like to see?
